SBB relies on PV2Rail

Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) has ordered PV2Rail photovoltaic inverters from SMART Railway Technology GmbH. The devices will be used in photovoltaic systems in various cantons. They allow renewable energy to be fed directly into the 16.7 Hz traction power network close to the consumer. This avoids the costly and inefficient diversion via the three-phase 50 Hz grid.
